Protecting a Critical Corridor After the Fires
The 2025 Palisades Fire, followed by heavy rain, left the Topanga Canyon corridor vulnerable to severe erosion and heavy debris flow-boulders, burnt debris, and mud- all which compromised the integrity of the roadway. Working under emergency conditions, FLO stabilized compromised slopes and roadway embankments, restored critical drainage systems, and implemented protective measures to strengthen the corridor against future events, including two soldier pile retaining walls: the longer at 65' with 86 steel beams, and the shorter at 46' with 26 steel beams.
